Rabbi Yehudah Glick

Yehuda Joshua Glick was born in 1965 in Brooklyn, New York, and at the age of 9 emigrated to Israel with his parents and five siblings. The Glick family settled in Beersheba, where Yehuda’s father was involved in the establishment of a new medical school.

After graduating from high school in 1983, Yehuda pursued rabbinical studies, including a hesder program, which is a special arrangement whereby young Israelis can combine advanced Talmudic studies with service in the Israel Defense Forces. Yehuda holds a B.A. in Education from Jerusalem College and an M.A. in Jewish History from Touro College. He is also a licensed tour guide, credentialed by the Israel Ministry of Tourism.

Rabbi Glick’s professional résumé includes: director of a program for immigrants from the former Soviet Union in Alon Shvut (1990-96); various posts in the Ministry of Aliyah and Immigrant Absorption (1996-2005); Director General of the Temple Institute (2005-09); Chairman of the Temple Mount Heritage Foundation (2009); and Director of HaLiba, the Initiative for Jewish Freedom on the Temple Mount (2013-present).

In October of 2014 Rabbi Glick narrowly survived an assassination attempt by a Muslim terrorist. The attempt on his life stemmed from his public advocacy of human rights, including the right to pray, to all people—Muslims, Jews, Christians, and others—on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount. As a result of Rabbi Glick’s tireless efforts, in April of 2015 he was announced to receive the 2015 Moskowitz “Lion of Zion” award. This honor is conferred on outstanding Israeli men and women who act from a feeling of personal responsibility, vision, and national mission, often while sacrificing their personal welfare and even endangering their personal security.

Rabbi Glick and his wife, Yafi, live in Otniel, Israel. The proud parents of eight children, they also have five grandchildren.  His skype name is YehudaGlick.

Rabbi Gedalia Meyer

Rabbi Gedalia Meyer will be launching his channel "God: The Jewish Image" soon. While people know him as a rabbi, he prefers you simply call him by his first name, Gedalia. Listen as he introduces himself to you.

After growing up in Los Angeles, California in a strictly non-religious environment, and spending my college years at UC Berkeley, I took off to see the world. Life changed when I quite unexpectedly ended up in Israel, because after several months of studying Judaism, I surprised many including myself, when I decided to become religious. After much more study back in the U.S., and eventual rabbinic ordination, I began to teach in one of the very U.S. institutions in which I had learned, followed by several years as a congregational rabbi and as a Jewish educator. With my wife Suri and our seven children, we moved to Israel in 1999 and have never looked back.

Root Source is a new adventure for me in teaching Judaism, and I hope that it will be a true source of inspiration both to the rabbis and the participants. I look forward to a high level of interaction and interchange with you, as we cover these essential topics of Judaism.

Seth Young

Seth Young, one of the world's leading Hebrew teachers, launched his Biblical Hebrew channel on Root Source in December 2014.

Seth teaches Hebrew primarily online via online courses, web sites, email lists, a Facebook group, two Facebook pages, and more.  He grew up outside of Philadelphia Pennsylvania and moved to Israel with his young family in 1996.

Seth did not learn Hebrew until he was an adult, and so he appreciates how it feels to approach the language without previous experience. His Hebrew teaching system was born out of these struggles, but he turned them into an advantage, where has now helped thousands of students learn Hebrew the way he wanted to have been taught.

Besides having graduated from Princeton University, Seth has also spent many years studying Torah in a variety of programs in both Hebrew and English.  His work in teaching Biblical Hebrew allows him to combine both skills into a single approach.

Other products from Seth Young are available at websites such as: http://www.HebrewClasses.co.il, http://www.hebrewbible.co.il, http://www.InstantHebrew.com, http://www.dictionary.co.il and  http://www.my-hebrew-name.com

David Ha'ivri

David Ha'ivri, noted author and speaker, launched his Root Source channel, Israel and the Nations in November 2014.

David has a great love for the physical land that God promised to Abraham. He believes that Jews become most fully alive in their relationship to God as they reside on the land and work to restore it to its former beauty and productivity.

In his new channel, Israel and the Nations, David gives Christians an inside look and perspective of the importance of the various places in Eretz Yisrael (the Land of Israel). He reveals these place in the context of history and the present, as well as in the context of both the Jewish perspective, and the perspective of the surrounding nations.

More about David Haivri:

I was born in NY, USA in April of 1967. That makes me almost 47 at the time of this writing. I am married to Mollie (Herzlich) and together, we have eight children.

I like building connections, speaking my mind, writing, Tweeting and interacting with people around the world on social media. I have traveled the globe speaking and advocating for Israel. Mollie and I have lived in Kfar Tapuach in the Shomron region of Israel for the past 25 years. That makes us “Jewish settlers in the West Bank” to some. I don’t really care what they call me, as long as I am convinced that what I am doing is right.

More information on my various projects can be found at: http://www.haivri.com/about/

Sondra Baras

Sondra Oster Baras was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio in an Orthodox Jewish home. She was educated at the Hebrew Academy of Cleveland, a religious all-day school sponsored by the Cleveland Jewish community. Upon graduation from high school, Sondra studied religious studies at the Jerusalem College for Women in Israel. She completed her B.A. in history and English at Barnard College (Columbia University) and obtained her J.D. at Columbia University’s School of Law. In 1984, after practicing law in New York for a short time, Sondra moved to Israel. Sondra continued her legal career in Israel, after being accepted to the Israeli bar.

In 1985, the Baras’ joined Neve Aliza, a group of North American Orthodox Jews that were building a new neighborhood in the small Samarian town of Karnei Shomron. Sondra soon became an active member of the governing board of the group and moved into the new neighborhood in 1987. Shortly thereafter, the first Intifada began, and Ms. Baras was drawn into activities advocating for the settlement movement. Since then, Baras has been an active spokesperson for the communities of Judea and Samaria.

Baras maintained contact with CFOIC Heartland since its inception in 1995, and in 1998, she opened the Israel office in an effort to enhance the organization’s activities in support of the communities of Judea, Samaria and Gaza. Since then, Sondra has been the director of the Israel office, coordinating much of CFOIC Heartland’s community support programs world-wide.

CFOIC Heartland is the only Christian organization to focus exclusively on the communities in the heartland of Biblical Israel. CFOIC Heartland raises funds for the communities and encourages tourism to biblical sites in these areas as well. They have become a resource in Israel for connecting Christians to the people of Biblical Israel, while working in close cooperation with Christian organizations in the Land and with Jewish organizations interested in linking with Christians from around the world. In addition to the main U.S. and Israel offices, there are CFOIC offices in Germany and Holland. Baras and her husband Edward, a computer programmer, raised five children in Karnei Shomron, where they still reside today.  In her spare time, Baras enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, and studies and teaches Bible, her greatest passion.
