• Israel, Middle East, and Jewish Identity. Gidon and Alan catch up after not meeting for a while. Alan shares that he recently completed a 12-week teaching series at his church called “Hot Topics,” with one of the topics being Israel and the Middle East. He discusses his approach to teaching about God’s creation and ownership of everything, including the land promised to Abraham. Gidon relates this to the first Rashi commentary on the Torah. They also touch on the absurd claim that Jews aren’t really Jews, with Alan pointing out the illogic of choosing to be persecuted, and Gidon mentioning the process for joining the Jewish people.

They noted that there are multiple Hebrew words for fear, and that the word “fear” can have different meanings depending on the context. They also touched on the Jewish perspective on the fear of the Lord, suggesting that it is often misunderstood as being solely about fear, when in fact it encompasses a broader understanding of God’s love and care for humanity.
