Gidon Ariel and Dr Richard Booker - April 15, 2024

Quick recap
Gidon and Richard discussed the recent conflict in the region, the effectiveness of Israel’s defense systems, and the intentions of Iran. They also shared personal experiences and updates, including Richard’s organization “Sounds of the Trumpet” and Gidon’s work with “Root Source.”

Discussing Conflict and Resilience Experiences
Gidon and Richard discussed the recent conflict in the region, with Gidon estimating that 99% of incoming weapons were knocked down before reaching Israeli airspace. They also discussed Gidon’s personal experience during the conflict, where he was awakened by the sound of sirens and gunfire, leading him and his family to seek refuge in their home’s safe room. Despite the ordeal, they expressed their resilience and continued preparations for upcoming celebrations.

Missile Attack Discussion and Comparisons
Gidon and Richard discussed a recent missile attack. Gidon explained that most of the missiles launched from Iran, Syria, Iraq, and Jordan were intercepted, but around 50% made it into their airspace. The majority of these missiles were shot down, with some reaching as far as the Dead Sea. Richard recalled a similar incident from his time in 1991, when Saddam Hussein ordered scud missiles to be launched.

Scripture Sharing and Current Events Discussion
Richard also shared a favorite Scripture, Psalm 121:4, “Behold, he who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep,” which he and Gidon used to sing. Gidon confirmed that this verse held particular significance for him, given the current situation in Israel.

Iran’s Actions and Passover Plans
Richard and Gidon discussed the intentions of Iran and its actions, with Richard suggesting that Iran may not have intended to escalate tensions with Israel. The conversation then shifted to personal matters, with Gidon sharing that his son, who is a rabbi, would be leading a Seder near Ashkelon for the first night of Passover. Gidon also mentioned that his other children would be with their respective families for the holiday.

Personal Health, War, and Organizations
Gidon and Richard talked more about the ongoing war in the South and recent events from Iran, which had caused some preoccupation and distraction. Gidon also mentioned that he was busy writing grant requests for his organization, Root Source, and invited any interested parties to contact him for support. Richard introduced his organization, Sounds of the Trumpet.

Discussing Company Name and Biblical Significance
Richard and Peggy were initially unable to incorporate their chosen company name as it was already taken. After realizing the biblical significance of names, they consulted the book of Joel, combining Scripture with words Peggy received to establish their name “Sounds of the Trumpet”. The discussion touched on keeping attuned to God’s word.

Summer Plans and Team Concerns
Richard and Gidon discussed the upcoming summer and the current challenges Richard’s team is facing due to the recent death of their long-term employee. Richard mentioned that they are managing everything alone, including their books and courses, without any extra help. Gidon offered to assist by republishing their books through print-on-demand, but Richard expressed his pride in their achievement of keeping all their books in print over the years.

Neighborhood Seder and Upcoming Visits
Richard informed Gidon about a Neighborhood Seder event taking place on their property with their neighbors. In response, Gidon shared that he would be visiting the United States in late May for his niece’s wedding and a synagogue event honoring Ann Stacy and Victoria Sarvadi. Richard offered a warm welcome to Gidon and invited him to visit their farm in Texas to ride horses, to which Gidon responded that he would consider it for a future visit. They both wished each other well and thanked each other.
