In this course, we explore whether or not the Hebrew Bible encourages the trait of zealousness in approaching the monotheistic God. We will explore four episodes to answer this question. First we will look at the episode of Moses and the Golden Calf. Next, we will examine Pinchas and the worship of Baal Peor. We will then turn to the Book of Judges and examine Jephtah and his tragic oath about his daughter. Finally, we will examine the prophet Elijah.
