Jewish American Heritage Month
| Published: May 31, 2022
In response to our Symposium last week, Givebutter, the professional platform we ran it on, reached out to us and asked us to participate in their Jewish American Heritage Month celebration! This was a great honor and here is their original message to us and our answers to their questions.
Question:
What does Jewish American Heritage Month mean to you/your organization?
Answer:
Root Source’s mission is to empower Christians and Jews to engage with each other, which aligns exactly with celebrating the diversity of the United States with a focus on Jews and Jewish culture, the exact stated theme of JAHM. The more people learn about each other, the more they will respect and like each other, and that is really the basis of the American Way.
Question:
What would you say to people who are looking for ways to celebrate and honor Jewish American Heritage Month this May?
Answer:
Check out Givebutter’s page about JAHM! And if I may dare add, learn a little Torah:-)
Question:
Why did you feel compelled to create this fundraising page?
Answer:
Last year, Root Source ran a very successful symposium leading up to Passover, with Jewish and Christian scholars presenting an aspect of that holiday from their religion’s perspective. As Passover is the first of three pilgrimage festivals, it was an easy decision to continue with the next festival. Every Givebutter campaign we run includes a strong element of learning Torah together, so Givebutter is a major factor in both raising the funds to run our organization and in accomplishing our goals.
