Today is Chanukah, the famous Festival of Lights. It is also well known as the Winter Feast of Dedication, as it is referred to in John 10:22 (The English translation of the word Hanukkah is dedication).
But the lights and the rededication of the Temple only came about because of a very bitter war that the Maccabbee Jews, led by Mattityahu and his five sons, fought against the Greeks.
This war was fought in Israel! Primarily in the areas today called Judea and Samaria or the West Bank.
