Lesson 2: Buy Yourself a Friend

Rabbi Adler continues his commentary on Pirkei Avot 1:6 by Joshua Ben Perachyah: Provide for yourself a teacher, and get/buy yourself a friend.

Bob's Application:  This teaching is as refreshing as it is important, and I love his explanation on the word 'buy'. 

Is this teaching in the N.T.?  I see a strong parallel between Joshua Ben Perachyah and Jesus parable of Luke 16:1-9.  The strongest parallel is in fact the summary statement of Jesus in verse 9. I won't quote it here so you can read it and enjoy it for youself after listening to this lesson. In fact, after listening to the lesson, you might even try to guess what Jesus said in Luke 9:16 before you look it up!
