Lesson 4: Forty Years Times Three
Moses life was divided equally into thirds. The first 40 years lasts just a few verses. The second 40 years was a couple of chapters, but the final 40 years comprises the rest of Exodus, and indeed the next 4 books of the Bible.
This way of thinking about life is very common in Jewish life even today. What are these three parts? How do Jewish people think about them? And how does this relate to failure to accomplish one's purpose?
Moses last 40 years were the period in which he was most effective in accomplishing his purpose. What is the action verb that the Jewish sages use to describe the work of Moses in his last 40 years?
