The land of Israel is a gift given to Israel by G-d, a gift which transcends us as individuals, but which, nevertheless, defines us, both as individuals and as a nation with a covenant with HaShem and a responsibility to the land. We can’t take it with us, but we pass it on to our children. And by doing so, we live forever.
