We interrupt our normal recent blog fare of announcing media appearances by Bob and Gidon and other Root Source teachers, citations about Root Source and Israel FIRST!, and exclusive video clips about the current situation in Israel, to link to a beautiful Youtube video that is a cover for the very popular song by Josh Groban, “You Raise Me Up.”

I (Gidon) translated the Hebrew lyrics, which are not a strict translation of the English lyrics, but a poetic restatement of the famous poem “Footprints in the Sand” the the Hebrew producer thought was the right concept for this song in Hebrew. I wonder how aware he was about how associated with Christianity both of these works are?

See if you can sing along in English!

I see you here, together we are walking
Our footsteps make their mark upon the sand
Suddenly darkness, alone I am and crying,
Towards the light, you carried me in your hand.

You are my God, you raise me high beyond
the highest mountaintops, the stormy sea,
You raise me up, bear me upon your shoulders
You gave me all the good that is in me.

My whole life’s scenes across the sky were flashing
So many hardships passed before my eyes
“My son, ‘twas you then in my hands I carried
Those aren’t your footprints, my son, they’re mine.

Yea, though I walk in death and shadow’s valley
I fear no evil for You are with me
None other than Your resting rod and your staff
Yes only they alone shall comfort me.

You are my God, you raise me high beyond
the highest mountaintops, the stormy sea,
You raise me up, bear me upon your shoulders
You gave me all the good that is in me.

And here are the words in Hebrew, with their transliteration:

Heenay atah kan letzeedee posay-ah
Ikvoteinu mutba-ot bachol
Peetome makh-sheekh, ani levad bokheh
ata nosay oti el pnei ha-or

Kaylee ata, haraym oti may-ever
Layam so-air veleep-sagot hareem
Haraym oti sa-eynee al k-tey-fekhah
natata lee et kol hatov sheh-bee

Tmunot kha-yay heev-zeeku bashamayeem
tla-ote rabot avroo neged aynay
Bnee, otkha az al kapee nasah-tee
lo eek-vo-tekha’ ella eek-votay

Gam kee eilekh begay tzalmavvet
lo eera ra kee ata eemadee
shivrekha umish-antekha heimah yenakhamunee

Kaylee ata, haraym oti may-ever
Layam so-air veleep-sagot hareem
Haraym oti sa-eynee al k-tey-fekhah
natata lee et kol hatov sheh-bee

Just breathtaking! Young man has such a beautiful voice and I love the videos of the Jewish people at the wailing wall. I love the Jewish people and pray for peace for them and for Jeruselam. You are the apple of Gods eye and as a Christ follower I am hurt by all the evil that is happening to you, Gods people.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful song sung in Hebrew!!

This will never be the same again. I am a child of God and today for the first time I actually felt what I heard while listening to this. Israel is in our hearts and in our prayers everyday.
